Also thought the grandchildren might enjoy using the boat, but it turns out they are all at the other end of the country or the world, so that's not happening. So the boat has been used only a half dozen times and remains in new condition while taking up space in my garage.
However, has been used enough for me to know that it performs really well. Cuts through the chop beautifully whether rowing or motoring. Suitable for up to 2 adults plus 2 children and easily planes with the small 6HP outboard. It is a skiff design, overall length 4.62m (15 feet) and max beam at gunwales 1.30m - i.e. it is narrow and slippery, but plenty stable enough. Empty hull weight is 76 Kg.
The construction method means it is not held together by nails or screws, but by fibreglass tape embedded in coved epoxy resin. The hull bottom up to and around the chines is also fully fibreglassed for resilience if pulled up on the beach - but have never needed to do that because of the custom launching trolley which goes with the boat. It is super easy to launch and retrieve the boat using the trolley which has pneumatic tyres and plastic wheels bearing on aluminium stub axles - no bearings to rust.
Listed October 2025, the sale includes the hull, oars, 2 moveable thwarts (seats) and the launching trolley. Also a few accessories (flotation vests and a folding anchor) if you want them. My price is $1600, which is a real bargain if this style of boat is what you are after, as the materials alone would cost a lot more than that.
My 6HP Suzuki 4-stroke outboard motor, bought new in 2017 and with less than 6 hours use is not included in the price. That will be sold separately - still worth a good $1000 I would think (which is well under half the new price for a virtually new motor).
